      NBC held the first press conference for its new original ballet "Soul of Crane"

      April 20, 2015, the artistic director of the National Ballet of China, Mme Feng Ying officially announced to the media that the NBC new original ballet “Soul of Crane” will have its world premiere in Beijing Tianqiao Theater on September 23.

      Ballet "Soul of Crane" will present a hymn to life and youth and a harmony of human and nature. Inspired by the story of Xu Xiujuan, a beautiful and kind girl who raise the crane in China and sacrifice herself for the protection of crane, the ballet will allow the audience to feel the sublime of humanity.

      Our production team is composed of young talents with international perspective. One choreographer, Ma Cong, resident choreographer of Tulsa Ballet was also an outstanding dancer of NBC. His creative vision integrating chinese and western dance styles will make its mark in this new ballet. The other choreographer Zhang Zhenxin interpret the spirit of the time through his angle of view. Composers Shen Yiwen, who pursuing a doctorate at the Juilliard School in New York, will use a magnificent musical tension and passing the connotation of this ballet. Gong Xun, stage designer, and Deng Wen, lighting designer, NBC’s new-prominent designers and Costume Designer Li Kun will bring us more surprises.

      As the chief director and producer of "Soul of Crane", Mme Feng Ying gave us her own explanation of this ballet: “We want to convey a belief that everyone should has devotion to his ideal and contribute to the society.”
